Body length 12-13 cm, tail 4 cm; Weight 30 g. The coloring of the plumage is grassy green, the back in the lower part and the sacrum are blue, so they are sometimes called blue-tailed. Males, unlike females, have blue feathers on the inside of the wing, in females the color of the plumage is light green.

They live in Gayan, Suriname, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Paraguay and in the north of Brazil.
