Body length 12-13 cm, tail 4 cm; Weight 30 g. The coloring of the plumage is grassy green, the back in the lower part and the sacrum are blue, so they are sometimes called blue-tailed. Lower hiding feathers dark blue. Wing and secondary flying feathers ultramarino-blue. The ends of the fly feathers reach the end of the tail. Their tail is short, rounded. The lower body is lighter. Males, unlike females, have blue feathers on the inside of the wing, in females the color of the plumage is light green.
They live in Gayan, Suriname, Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Paraguay and in the north of Brazil.
Mangro forests, various shrubs, secondary stunted forests, edges and cutting down inhabit. Gravitate towards the rivers and the sea coast. In addition to plant feed, their diet includes insects and their larvae, spiders, multi -leaflets and mollusks.
Nesting in hollows and voids of stumps, in niches of deformed bitches and branches, as well as in termite. In the masonry from 3 to 6 eggs that the female forces for 19 — 21 days. The male feeds the female and spends a lot of time in the nest, but does not accept participation. Eggs are laid with an interval of 1-2 days, the chicks hatch at different times.
Local residents take these parrots from nests at chicks and contain houses. They take root well, become gullible and rather funny. Adult parrots are acclimatized worse for home housing.
