Body length 31-32 cm, tail 9 cm; Weight 340 g. Very similar to a blue -sided Amazon. Green plumage, cheeks and forehead yellow. Many parrots of this species on the frontal part have interspersed blue feathers. There is a red strip on the flyer feathers. Around the eyes the naked zone of gray-blue color. The beak is brownish-yellow with a dark tip. The iris is orange. Sexual dimorphism is not visually expressed. Determining the floor of birds is possible by analysis of DNA or using endoscopy.

Lives in Venezuela, Colombia, Guiana and Northern Brazil before Peru.

Inhabitant tropical selshanes, mangrove thickets at an altitude of up to 800 m above sea level. It feeds on fruits and seeds, including palm fruits and sometimes cocoa. Pursued as an agricultural pest.

Nest in hollows of trees. In the masonry of 3-5 white eggs. The female forces for 3 weeks. Chicks are shifting in two months.
