Body length 23cm, tail 11 cm. Olive-green plumage. There is a yellow superb up strip, the same color of the cheeks and the bridle. There is a blue bandage on the forehead. The covering feathers of the wing is also blue. Flaw feathers at the base, on the outer dough blue, with a narrow bordering of white color. The outer part of the flower feathers is black-brown. The tail is light yellow, and the middle feathers of the tail is greenish with a gray tint. The female is paler than the male.
Lives on the island of Tasmania, there are also areas in the southeast of Australia.
Inhabit savannahs, dunes, woodedness, meadows, swamps and gardens. They feed mainly with seeds, fruits and insects.
Rare.
